Job description

Are you a recent PhD graduate in physics with a passion for precision measurement and quantum technologies? The Quantum Innovation Centre at A*STAR is seeking an independent and motivated scientist to join our team in advancing the frontier of atomic magnetometry.

About the Role

You will be supervised to conduct research on atomic magnetometers with a focus on reducing systematic effects, contributing to the development of high performance quantum sensors for real world applications. This is a hands on, collaborative role where you will work closely with a multi disciplinary team of scientists and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform optical design and alignment.
  • Program and operate laboratory equipment for data acquisition and control.
  • Analyze experimental data and contribute to the development of improved sensor designs.
  • Participate in technical discussions and contribute to scientific publications and reports.
Requirements
  • A PhD in Physics or related fields
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: Experimental atomic, molecular, and/or optical physics; Programming of laboratory equipment (e.g., using Python), Data acquisition and analysis, Mechanical design (e.g., using CAD tools) and Electronics design (e.g., PCB layout, circuit simulation).
  • Strong problem solving skills and a hands on approach to experimentation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
