Job description
Working Hours
  • Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30am to 5:30pm.
  • Service is generally not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.
  • The employee may be required to perform duties on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays as necessitated by service exigencies.
Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience and a strong portfolio to demonstrate skills in both print and digital design, including layout, typography, and photo/video editing.
  • Ability to create engaging video content and simple motion graphics for social media.
  • Strong illustration skills with a definable style, and versatility to adapt to the school’s needs.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work within an existing brand identity, using provided logos, colour palettes, and fonts consistently.
  • Excellent communication skills to understand requirements, present concepts and incorporate feedback effectively.
  • A candidate who has experience in designing media assets and collaterals (e.g., website graphics, slides, images, etc.) and working in a school environment is preferred.
Key Roles
Digital and Print Publications
  1. School Newsletter – Design and layout for our semestral digital and print newsletter, ensuring it is visually engaging, easy to read, and aligned with the school’s brand guidelines.
  2. Social Media Content – Creation of static graphics, engaging photo collages, and templates for posts on social media platforms.
  3. School Website – Design and create visual elements for the school website such as:
    1. Web banners and hero images – designing compelling header graphics for the homepage and landing pages.
    2. Custom graphics and icons – creating unique icons, infographics, and button graphics to enhance user experience and visual appeal.
    3. Page layout mock-ups – providing visual mock-ups for new web pages or sections to guide development, ensuring user-friendly, vibrant and on-brand design.
    4. Video Content and Reels – Editing and producing short, dynamic videos for school publicity, social media reels, and event recaps that includes basic motion graphics, photography/videography and adding text overlays, sound mixing and ensuring cohesive look and feel.
Corporate Collaterals and Branding
  1. Banners and Signage – Designing small and large-format banners for school events, celebrations, and directional signage within the school premises.
  2. Mementos and Souvenirs – Conceptualising and designing items such as certificates, trophies, plaques and commemorative gifts for staff, students, and special guests.
  3. Promotional items – Designing practical and visually appealing items like postcards, tote bags, lanyards, and t-shirts that promote school spirit and strategic messages.
Illustration

Custom illustration – Creating original, custom illustrations from time to time for specific campaigns, website elements, book covers, or to visually represent school values and themes in a unique style, which can also be used for teaching materials.

The designer will be expected to deliver the following, based on the school’s projects and programmes:

  1. Produce print-ready PDFs for newsletters and banners.
  2. High-resolution JPEG/PNG files for digital uses.
  3. Source files (e.g., Adobe Illustrator .ai, Photoshop .psd, InDesign.indd) for all created assets.
  4. Edited video files in formats suitable for social media and their associated project files.
  5. Original illustration files in vector or high-resolution raster formats.
