Role Purpose
The Safety & Decarbonisation Engineer / Coordinator is responsible for ensuring workplace safety compliance while driving the organisation’s decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives. This role supports regulatory compliance, risk reduction, carbon emissions management, and capability building across facilities and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Management
- Implement and maintain Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analyses for operational and project activities.
- Lead accident/incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Coordinate safety inspections, audits, and toolbox meetings.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations (e.g. WSH Act, subsidiary legislation, MOM requirements).
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to enforce safety standards on-site.
- Maintain safety documentation, permits, and records.
2. Decarbonisation & Sustainability
- Support implementation of decarbonisation initiatives aligned with company sustainability goals.
- Collect, manage, and analyse data for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions (and Scope 3 where applicable).
- Support carbon baseline establishment and monitoring of emissions performance.
- Identify energy efficiency and carbon reduction opportunities (e.g. equipment, processes, utilities).
- Coordinate participation in sustainability programmes (e.g. NTUC SCDP, government‑funded initiatives).
- Work with consultants and internal stakeholders to set science‑aligned targets and track progress.
- Prepare sustainability‑related reports, dashboards, and management updates.
3. Training & Capability Building
- Coordinate safety and sustainability training for employees and contractors.
- Use online and external programmes to upskill facilities engineers and operational staff.
- Promote safety culture and sustainability awareness across the organisation.
4. Coordination & Reporting
- Act as a point of contact for safety and decarbonisation matters.
- Coordinate with Facilities, Operations, Engineering, and Management teams.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain accurate records, KPIs, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Safety, or related field.
- At least 2–5 years of relevant experience in safety, facilities, engineering, or sustainability roles (depending on seniority).
- Familiarity with WSH regulations and safety management systems.
- Basic understanding of carbon accounting, energy management, or ESG principles is preferred.
- Experience in industrial, warehouse, cold room, or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
