Qualifications

Job description

Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator assists in implementing and maintaining the company’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) management system in compliance with Singapore’s regulatory requirements. This role supports project teams to ensure safe work practices, risk management, and continuous improvement in workplace safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with General Contractor on any safety related issue and event including attending weekly safety meeting
• Assist in the implementation of the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and all relevant MOM regulations and codes of practice.
• Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective measures are taken promptly.
• Support in preparing Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), Construction Method Statement (CMS) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) documentation.
• Participate in incident and accident investigations, assist in root cause analysis, and prepare safety reports for management and MOM submission when required.
• Conduct Toolbox Meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions for workers and subcontractors.
• Ensure proper issuance, use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain safety records and documentation, including inspection checklists, safety statistics, and training attendance.
• Coordinate and participate in emergency response drills and safety campaigns.
• Liaise with WSH Officer, Safety Manager, subcontractors, and authorities on safety and health matters.
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage reporting of near misses and unsafe conditions.

Requirements

• Minimum WSH Coordinator Course certification approved by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
• Diploma or Nitec in Engineering / Construction / Safety or related discipline.
• At least 2 years’ relevant experience in safety coordination, preferably in construction, engineering, or manufacturing industries.
• Familiar with Singapore WSH legislation, including the WSH Act, Environmental Protection and Management Act, and relevant codes of practice.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to work independently and perform site duties when required.
