Job Description

The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) is an academic research centre in Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. Drawing on the team's multidisciplinary expertise and collaborations across medical, social, psychological, economic, and environmental perspectives, CARE's research is situated in eight broad thematic areas: Population Health, Social and Psychological Aspects of Ageing, Family Caregiving, Productive Ageing, Falls Prevention, Community-Based Health and Social Care Services, Ageing and the Environment, and Health Communication.

We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant (Senior) or Research Associate to join our team at CARE. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in project management, quantitative research, data analysis, and scientific writing in the fields of ageing, health, and social sciences.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the management and data analysis of a large longitudinal study of older adults, with primary responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

Project Management Responsibilities
  • Fieldwork Oversight: Coordinate and support the research team at Duke-NUS and collaborating partners
  • Operational Support: Oversee field activities and address operational matters.
  • Training & Supervision: Provide training sessions for field interviewers.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Provide regular updates to Principal Investigators on project progress.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure success of the project.
  • Research Coordination: Conduct and coordinate research activities in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, Human Biomedical Research Act (HBRA), and other regulatory and ethical requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain proper documentation in line with HBRA and assist in ethics approval applications and reporting to Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and funding agencies.
  • Budget Management: Assist in monitoring the project budget, ensuring efficient allocation and use of resources.
  • Administrative Support: Handle administrative duties as needed to support fieldwork operations and overall project requirements.
Data Analysis Responsibilities
  • Quantitative Analysis: Conduct quantitative analyses of individual‑level cross‑sectional and longitudinal survey data.
  • Research Dissemination: Assist in drafting and submitting research papers to high‑impact scientific journals and contribute to writing and editing policy or research briefs.
  • Presentation of Findings: Support the dissemination of research findings through conference presentations and related activities.
  • Data Management: Perform data management tasks, including quality and consistency checks, and preparation of codebooks.
  • Research Support: Assist with other research initiatives within CARE as needed.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nursing, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or other related fields.
  • Prior experience conducting clinical trials, or large‑scale community studies will be advantageous.
  • Collaborative personality with strong people‑skills to manage the research team, and interact with administrators, clinicians, and Principal Investigators.
  • Possess strong organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple project‑related tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient administrative skills to support project operations effectively.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Proficiency in Stata and the ability to query large datasets.
  • Have good understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods in applied health and/or social sciences.
  • Proficient in English with excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Familiar with concepts relevant to geriatrics and gerontology research.
  • Motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.

The position is for one year. The grade of appointment will be accorded based on candidate's academic qualifications and years of relevant experience.
