Job summary

A global engineering consultancy seeks an Engineer with Mechanical or Structural engineering qualifications to join as a Security and Blast Engineering Consultant. Responsibilities include structural design, project management, and liaising with various stakeholders. Ideal candidates should possess proficiency in engineering software and have a strong interest in counter-terrorism and homeland security.

Qualifications

• Good degree in relevant engineering recognized by the Professional Engineers Board.
• Knowledge of design and analysis of structures under dynamic loading, e.g., blast.
• Understanding of latest electronic security technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis, and plan for structural engineering works.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, and authorities from inception to completion.
• Prepare tender specifications and evaluate tender submissions.

Job description

We are seeking an Engineer with Mechanical and/or Structural engineering qualifications to join us as Security and Blast (S&B) Engineering Consultant.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis and plan for structural engineering works
• Design, analysis and plan for the protection of building and infrastructure from explosion and dynamic effects (e.g. blast loading)
• Design, analysis and plan for security system engineering works
• Liaise with other consultants, contractors & authorities from inception to completion of projects
• Responsible for timely submission of plans and reports to authorities and clients
• Manage projects to meet the time, cost and quality objectives
• Prepare tender specifications and drawings for tendering of construction contracts, including evaluating of tender submissions and make appropriate recommendations to clients
• Coordinate and monitor work progress at site including periodical site inspection and attending meetings during course of construction of projects

Requirements

• At least a good degree in Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering recognized by the Professional Engineers Board
• Proficiency in Engineering software such as AutoCad, Tekla, ETABs etc
• Candidates with knowledge of design and analysis of structures under dynamic loading, e.g. blast, blast tests, shock and vibration would be advantageous
• Candidates with understanding of latest electronic security technologies would be advantageous
• Strong interest in counter‑terrorism and homeland security
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team
• Self‑motivated, innovative thinker and willing to take on new challenges
• Candidates with more than 4 years of relevant experience would be considered for Senior Engineer position
