Job description

Maran Ship Supplies Pte. Ltd., part of the Angelicoussis Group, is looking for a Marine Superintendent.

This role is based in Singapore.

Objective: The critical role of the Marine Superintendent is to ensure the efficient and timely procurement of supplies for vessels within the Group’s fleet. The individual may have to deputise for the Head of Purchasing when required.

Responsibilities
  • Vessel Management

    • Manage procurement for various types of vessels in the Group’s fleet, including bulk carriers, crude carriers, and LNG vessels;
    • Monitor the trade patterns of vessels and optimise their supply schedules across global ports;
  • Procurement Process

    • Liaise with vessels and shoreside departments to understand procurement and supply needs;
    • Screen quotations from global suppliers, evaluate offers and conditions, and assist in assigning orders to selected suppliers;
  • Supply Chain Management

    • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of supplies to vessels;
    • Handle operational issues and logistics constraints within the end-to-end supply chain function;
    • Coordinate with suppliers to manage logistical operations for vessel supply;
    • Direct or arrange on-shore services such as the supply of ships' stores and equipment, ship inspections and overhauls for shipping company vessels arriving in port.
    • Order ship’s stores, deck and navigation equipment for delivery according to the ship master's requirements and arrange for inspections, tests and overhauls as required by regulations or company practices.
  • Cost Optimization

    • Identify economic ports based on alternative vessel routes to optimise costs in the supply chain;
    • Continuously monitor purchasing operations and propose adjustments to improve supply chain performance;
  • Supplier Management

    • Identify and negotiate with new suppliers for optimisation of efficiency;
    • Efficiently manage inventory for vessel supplies in the company's warehouse in Singapore;
    • Continuously monitor all purchasing operations and propose adjustments and improvements to the supply chain;
  • Port Logistics

    • Handle port logistics issues that may arise during the supply chain process;
    • Occasional visits onboard vessels calling in Singapore to evaluate inventories and delivery of vessel supplies;
  • Vessel’s Attendances

    • Visiting vessels during their stay at Singapore anchorage at least twice at week to perform purchasing audits and assist our HSQE / Operation / Spares & Inventory departments for vessels ISM / ISPS / MLS and RightShip inspections;
When Deputising the Head of Purchasing
  • Requisition Review and Approval

    • Review incoming requisitions and guide the purchasing team on sourcing supplies, considering internal and regulatory requirements;
    • Approve requisitions, taking into consideration vessel maintenance activities, age and regulatory requirements;
  • Supplier Assignment and Negotiation

    • Assign orders to selected suppliers;
    • Evaluate and negotiate commercial terms and procurement strategies;
  • Logistics Handling

    • Handle port logistics issues that may arise during the absence of the Head of Purchasing;
  • Flexibility

    • Be flexible to perform other duties as assigned, and reporting relationships may vary;
Qualifications
  • Certificate of Competency from MPA or recognised maritime administration.
  • Proficiency in Greek is required to ensure effective communication for safety and technical matters with Greek‑speaking Officers onboard our Greek‑flagged vessels.
  • Vessel Operations Understanding

    • Direct experience as a Ship Captain/Chief Engineer provides an in‑depth understanding of vessel operations, including the specific needs, challenges and priorities of the crew on board.
  • Company Policy Alignment

    • Having served on the vessels, the Deputy Head of Purchasing would have an inherent understanding of the company’s policies, ensuring alignment and compliance in procurement activities.
  • Mentality of Crew Members

    • Familiarity with the mentality and preferences of the Greek crew on board allows better decision‑making in sourcing supplies that meet their specific needs and preferences.
