Job summary

This includes managing shared R&D consumables and services, conducting user training on equipment, and implementing operational policies. Qualifications

Job description

The focus of the A*STAR Institute for Human Development and Potential (A*STAR IHDP) is research to improve the health and well-being of Singaporeans across the life course.

The Manager (Operations) for A*STAR IHDP will be responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and executing the day-to-day operational activities for the Research Facilities. This will be done through direct hands-on involvement, and working with research staff from different platforms, external collaborators and contractors.

The key responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage shared Research & Development (R&D) Consumables and Services, such as Gases (Liquid Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, etc), Dry Ice, Lab Coat Laundry, Freezer Monitoring System, Lab waste Management, Lab notebook issuance and archival, etc.
  • Manage shared R&D Equipment, including being responsible for equipment repair and maintenance, tracking of utilisation rates, cost recovery and asset tracking.
  • Conduct training for users on the proper usage of shared equipment and consumables.
  • Manage Purchase Orders and Maintenance Contracts of shared equipment and consumables.
  • Create, review and implement policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and management systems for routine operational related activities of the Research Entity, and formulate solutions for any operational problems faced.
  • Assist to review risk assessments and method statements for R&D Equipment usage and any other R&D activities.
  • Assist in space planning and usage for R&D activities.
  • Be a member of A*STAR IHDP Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Committee, Emergency Response Team and Business Continuity Management Team.
  • Be the Liaison Officer with the Fixed Asset Team, with responsibilities for asset creation, verification and disposal.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, Healthcare or related disciplines.
  • Preferably at least 1 year of relevant working experience in the biomedical R&D industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well organised and practical, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable to work exigencies.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team when needed.
  • Ability to carry heavy loads with proper handling techniques would be advantageous.
