Manager / Assistant Manager (NS Gallery Development)

Defence Collective Singapore Ltd – Bukit Merah

THIS IS A 2-YEAR RENEWABLE / CONVERTIBLE CONTRACT ROLE.

The jobholder will be part of a team that conceptualises, strategises and develops a world‑class NS‑themed gallery (NSG) until its opening in 2029. The NSG aims to deliver an exhibition that imparts audiences with an understanding of Singapore’s immutable vulnerabilities, the importance and significance of National Service, and why we must defend Singapore.

Responsibilities
  1. Content research, curatorial and exhibition design – research, guide the appointed firm in translating research materials into immersive and engaging content and exhibits for an effective visitor experience.
  2. Large platform display at the NS Square Atrium – narrative messaging, content design and certain technical coordination.
  3. Management of the gallery design and fabrication firm – manage overall project timelines and provide support reports to senior management.
  4. Assist the Assistant Director (NS Gallery) with project delivery across various domains:
    • Conduct content research and development efforts.
    • Conduct curatorial and museum design efforts.
    • Project‑manage the design and fabrication phase of the main exhibition gallery and large platform displays.
    • Engage audiences to understand content resonance and gather feedback.
    • Provide updates to the NS Gallery Task Force and Working Groups and draft minutes.
Job Requirements
  • Educational requirement: good honours or postgraduate degree in Arts or Social Sciences with a keen interest in Singapore’s social and military history.
  • Relevant experience: approximately seven years in content research and development, with prior museum or curatorial experience.
  • Language: strong command of spoken and written English; proficiency in one other vernacular language preferred.
