Job summary

A gaming company based in Singapore is looking for a Legal Counsel to aid in its cross-border operations across APAC countries including Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. The successful candidate will draft and negotiate commercial contracts, support new market entries, and ensure compliance with local regulations. Candidates should possess 3–7+ years of legal experience, ideally in a gaming or technology-related field and be well-versed in cross-border legal issues.

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of legal experience, either in-house or from a reputable law firm.
  • Experience supporting cross-border matters and commercial contracts.
  • Exposure to APAC jurisdictions, particularly Malaysia, Japan, and/or South Korea, is preferred.

Legal Counsel – Gaming (Cross-Border / APAC)
(Title may be adjusted to Senior Legal Counsel depending on experience)

Role Overview

We are representing a gaming company seeking a Legal Counsel to support its cross-border operations and regional expansion across Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. This role will provide legal support on commercial contracts, new market entry, and corporate matters, working closely with business, finance, and regional stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-border gaming environment.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Business Contracts
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of business and commercial agreements, including publishing, licensing, distribution, vendor, and partnership agreements.

  • Support day-to-day business contracts related to gaming operations, platform partnerships, marketing, and service providers.

  • Advise internal stakeholders on contractual risks and commercial terms.

Cross-Border & Regional Support
  • Provide legal support for cross-border matters across Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea, including coordination with local counsel where required.

  • Support regional business teams on local regulatory and compliance considerations impacting gaming operations.

  • Manage multi-jurisdictional legal issues and ensure consistency in legal approach across markets.

New Market Entry & Entity Setup
  • Support legal aspects of entering new countries, including entity incorporation, licensing considerations, and regulatory assessments.

  • Coordinate with external advisors on company setup, corporate secretarial matters, and ongoing statutory compliance.

  • Advise on structuring options for new entities and regional operations.

Corporate & General Legal Support
  • Support corporate governance matters, board resolutions, and internal policies.

  • Assist with M&A, strategic investments, and restructuring projects as needed.

  • Manage and instruct external counsel, ensuring quality and cost control.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and qualification to practice in at least one jurisdiction.

  • 3–7+ years of legal experience, either in-house or from a reputable law firm.

  • Experience supporting cross-border matters and commercial contracts.

  • Exposure to APAC jurisdictions, particularly Malaysia, Japan, and/or South Korea, is highly preferred.

  • Experience in gaming, technology, digital media, or internet-related industries is a strong advantage.

  • Commercially oriented with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Able to work independently and manage multiple matters across regions.
