About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Linux Infrastructure Engineer to support and manage enterprise-scale infrastructure in a 24x7 production environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system availability, performance, and security, while partnering closely with application and infrastructure teams to support BAU operations, projects, and incident management.
You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Linux administration and automation, contributing to infrastructure design reviews, production onboarding, and security compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management
- Operate in a 24x7 shift‑based environment to support critical systems
- Monitor system performance and availability to ensure optimal functionality
- Perform routine system maintenance and Linux administration tasks
- Execute Linux OS patching and administrative activities for projects and BAU
- Maintain system security to ensure continuous availability of Linux servers
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams from requirements gathering through implementation
- Review and analyse infrastructure architecture, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities
- Provide guidance to application teams on troubleshooting infrastructure‑related issues
- Act as SME for Linux administration and automation
Operations & Process
- Prepare technical project and implementation plans for new BAU initiatives
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to design technical solutions and enhancements
- Participate in incident management calls and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA)
- Provide L2 support for incidents and security‑related events
- Drive onboarding of new applications into the production environment
Security & Compliance
- Assist in deploying, maintaining, and enhancing infrastructure security in line with internal security directives
- Implement administrative, preventive, detective, and reactive controls, including:
- Change and configuration management
- Patch management
- Anti‑virus and system scans
- Security incident response
Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology or any related field
- 5‑7 years of experience in infrastructure support and operating system administration
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience supporting production applications
- Hands‑on experience with RHEL 7/8/9 (patching, administration, troubleshooting)
- Proficiency in shell scripting
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix) is good to have
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead discussions, drive meetings, and coordinate across multiple stakeholders
