The WSDip programme is a good choice for those who are at the crossroads between studying and working after graduating from ITE as it has the best of both worlds. NITEC or Higher NITEC holders who are keen to join the workforce after graduating can consider enrolling for a WSDip course as they can work and draw a salary while earning a diploma in the process. The same can be said for NITEC or Higher NITEC graduates who want to further their education as the WSDip allows them to not only pursue their studies at no cost, but also get a monthly salary. [ STARTING SALARY] Higher Nitec, Nitec holders - $2,200 to $2,526*Starting salary will vary according to assessment during interview, relevant work experience and completion of full‑time National Service. [ $30,000 SIGN-ON BONUS ] Newly appointed Direct Entry Sergeant will receive a sign‑on bonus of $30,000, with $12,000 paid upon signing on and $18,000 upon confirmation after a one‑year probation. Graduates can expect to find stable full‑time employment with ICA, where they can enjoy an attractive remuneration package which consists a potential base monthly salary of around S$2,000 with additional allowances up to $800 and an annual bonus of up to 3.4 months.

There are also a multitude of ways where trainees can progress after the programme, be it in their career, education, or both. Upon completing the WSDip, trainees who continue with ICA will move on and be deployed to specialised roles with higher ranks. This includes roles like Assessment & Investigation Officer, Radiographic Image Analyst, First Response Team Officer, to name a few.
Trainees under the course will join ICA and become law enforcement officers responsible for implementing and enforcing laws in border security. Duties and responsibilities include deploying your skills and intuition, monitoring and screening people, vehicles and goods that pass through Singapore’s borders and intercepting potential threats before they reach our shores. This will constitute 80 per cent of the course, while the remaining 20 per cent will be off‑the‑job training on campus.
