Job description
POSITION PURPOSE

The Head of Membership, Asia is part of the CASE Global membership team. This position is responsible for membership growth, engagement, and retention across Asia, including key markets such as South East Asia (e.g. Singapore, Malaysia), Hong Kong and China, India, and West Asia (e.g., Lebanon and the U.A.E.). This includes, but is not limited to, account management of member institutions, managing membership products and services, and the regional strategy for acquisition, engagement, and retention of members. The position is accountable for the identification and cultivation of sponsorship opportunities that support strategic priorities and regional programs. The position works closely with partners, volunteers, and internal teams to build lasting relationships and advance regional impact. In a small office, all staff are expected to be involved in developing, supporting, delivering and driving all CASE business. This role has responsibility for membership revenue, including meeting established targets for growth and retention of members.

The core functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Membership Strategy
  • Lead the Asia-Pacific membership retention and growth strategy in Asia, working closely with the Asia-Pacific Executive Director and colleagues across the Global Membership team to achieve targets identified in CASE’s Global Membership Growth Plan.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential partners to support membership engagement and growth.
  • Maintain responsibility for achieving an annual revenue goal and identifying opportunities for new revenue streams.
  • In consultation with the Senior Director, Member Strategy and Marketing, manage the membership acquisition strategy, with particular emphasis on emerging markets and identifying potential new markets.
Membership Engagement
  • Develop and own membership retention plan to improve retention rate across the membership in Asia.
  • Manage the provision of the first line of customer service for all membership enquiries, meeting internal standards for response time and quality of response.
  • Working with the Executive Director, AP and the Senior Director, Member Strategy and Marketing, develop and manage a regional membership stewardship programme, including regular touch points, to improve engagement with particular emphasis on at‑risk members.
  • Manage an institutional or individual onboarding plan for new members.
Volunteer Stewardship
  • Establish good relationships with volunteer leaders in Asia to ensure goals and outcomes support CASE’s priorities and align with our strategic direction.
  • Lead the strategic recruitment of new volunteers and coordinate induction activities in Asia.
  • Support volunteers in their roles in fulfilling engagement activities, networking activities, and other projects between meetings.
  • liaise with colleagues responsible for educational programmes in the Asia‑Pacific region and in the global Membership, Volunteerism, and Engagement Division to align activities and deliver a consistent volunteer experience in Asia.
Fiscal Management/Budget Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources
  • Manage the annual budget assigned for the role and prepare periodic reports as requested.
  • Exercise fiscal responsibility in the utilisation of all CASE resources.
Liaison Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions.
  • Maintain flexibility to work across different time‑zones, including late evenings, as and when required.
  • liaise with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world, especially those in membership, marketing, communications, and volunteer engagement, to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise, and knowledge.
  • Incorporate tasks and/or projects related to objectives as directed by the CASE Strategic Plan.
Image Responsibilities
  • In keeping with the CASE Values Statement, ensure that CASE is well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and ethics, in all activities, services, and products.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Fluency and competency in writing in English.
  • Proficiency in a relevant regional language strongly preferred (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic or Hindi).
  • Evidence of business development and/or marketing experience to deliver against income and/or numerical targets at a team level and independently.
  • Evidence of managing a team, budgets, and targets.
  • Experience in institutional advancement, e.g., alumni relations, communications, fundraising, or advancement services, preferred.

  • High comfort level with IT systems and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Access), Outlook and Database Management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels and work well as part of a team. Self‑starter with ability to take ownership of and work autonomously on initiatives.
  • Strong commercial, market‑led approach.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 2‑3 times a year in the region.
  • Readiness to work unsocial hours on occasion (e.g., over weekends at conferences).
  • Maintain a high standard of excellence.
  • Ability to embrace CASE values and work collaboratively with enthusiasm and energy.
