Overview

Full-Time • East Region (Ubi) • Singapore renowned M&E (mechanical & electrical) engineering company. Nature of business: M&E contractor providing electrical, mechanical, process and maintenance engineering solutions, including design-and-build and O&M for infrastructure and water-related facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end finance operations, including accounting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.

  • Implement and continuously improve finance processes, controls, and best practices to identify, monitor, and mitigate financial and business risks, supporting the organization’s fiscal and growth targets.

  • Partner proactively with project, operations, and other departments to understand information needs, provide financial insights, and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Work closely with project and quantity surveying teams on funding requirements, key operational costs, and monthly cash flow, ensuring alignment with terms agreed with main contractors, asset owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Ensure all NAVO/VO, progress claims, and related documentation are prepared and submitted accurately within stipulated timelines.

Financial performance and reporting
  • Monitor and analyze the company’s financial performance and position, recommending policies and actions to meet reporting, covenant, and internal management requirements.

  • Oversee the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, management reports, business activity reports, and forecasts for management and key stakeholders.

  • Analyze contract and project financial plans, identify variances (actual vs budget), and drive initiatives to improve margins, working capital, and overall cash profile.

  • Propose preventive and corrective action plans to address financial risks, cost overruns, and cash flow gaps.

Treasury, risk and stakeholders
  • Source and secure competitive providers for bonds, guarantees, and insurance required for projects, ensuring adequate coverage at optimal cost.

  • Plan and manage foreign currency requirements; monitor forex movements and coordinate with procurement and project teams to minimize FX exposure.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with bankers, insurance companies, auditors, corporate secretaries, and relevant regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure full compliance with internal controls, finance policies, processes, and procedures, as well as relevant accounting and regulatory standards.

Required Experience, Competencies and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA).

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar finance leadership role, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based environments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective business partnering and communication skills, with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders.

  • High proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word; experience with ERP/project accounting systems is an advantage.
