Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking an Environmental Officer to oversee compliance with environmental regulations on construction sites. Responsibilities include developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans, conducting inspections, and preparing reports. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in construction, a diploma or degree in relevant engineering fields, and NEA registration. Job description
Responsibilities
  • Report to the Project Manager & Safety Manager on all environmental matters affecting the construction site.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific Environmental Management Plans (EMP) in line with local environmental regulations, project specifications, and organizational sustainability goals.
  • Conduct regular environmental inspections to ensure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements, including those set by NEA, PUB, and other relevant authorities.
  • Identify and assess potential environmental risks such as dust emission, noise pollution, water contamination, vector breeding, and improper waste disposal.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate mitigation measures in collaboration with the Safety Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Supervise environmental monitoring activities such as air quality, noise levels, and water discharge in accordance with regulatory guidelines, engaging third-party labs where necessary.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies on site audits, inspections, and investigations; ensure prompt resolution of any non-compliance issues.
  • Prepare and submit accurate environmental reports, including Environmental Monitoring and Audit (EMA) reports, Non‑Compliance Reports (NCR), and updates required by authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Safety Manager in promoting environmental awareness among site workers and contractors through toolbox talks, briefings, and training sessions.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date environmental documentation, inspection records, and audit findings for review by management and authorities.
  • Collaborate with the WSH team to ensure alignment between safety and environmental initiatives, supporting a holistic approach to site compliance.
  • Ad hoc duties as assigned by the Safety Manager & Project Manager.
Requirements
  • At least 2 Year(s) of working experience in building or civil construction industry, preferably with experience in HDB projects.
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Health, Safety) or equivalent.
  • NEA Registered Environmental Control Officer.
  • Proficient understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Qualified candidates should be energetic, self-driven, and possessing a results‑driven attitude.
  • Possess strong technical skills, and outstanding interpersonal abilities to enhance team collaboration.
