Singapore Aquatics (SAQ), as a member of World Aquatics (AQUA), serves as the governing body for swimming, water polo, diving, and artistic swimming in Singapore. SAQ is charged with the development and education of aquatic players, officials, coaches and volunteers throughout Singapore, and with the conduct of competitions and programmes for all levels of participation.
Position: Diving Harness Coach
A. PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
1. Reporting Structure: Reports to the National Head Coach, Sport Director, and VP (Diving), supporting the national diving programme and Multi-Year Sports Plan through world-class harnessing delivery.
2. Purpose: Responsible for providing expert dryland and water harness support to elevate the technical development of Singapore’s national diving athletes towards world-class Degree of Difficulty standards. The role contributes directly to athlete progression, technical refinement, and performance safety, while fostering athlete confidence in an athlete-centered environment.
This position also plays a crucial role in building national harness coaching capability across the pathway, empowering club and pathway coaches to become proficient in harness operation and technical correction.
3. The role requires a collaborative, knowledgeable coach with a passion for technical excellence, athlete safety, and programme development.
B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Technical Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert dryland and water harness coaching for national senior, junior and development squad athletes.
- Support the execution of technical development plans in alignment with the National Head Coach to elevate performance capability and difficulty lists.
- Provide synchro technical support to senior and high-potential athletes.
- Ensure optimal coaching ratios across squads by providing relief coaching within national team training environments.
- Develop, lead, and implement a structured upskilling pathway for national, pathway, and club coaches to achieve proficiency in harness use and athlete safety.
- Collaborate closely with the sports science and medical team to ensure athlete safety, physical readiness, and aligned technical development.
- Maintain and manage all harness systems and related equipment to ensure operational safety and reliability.
2. Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate equipment logs, inspection records, and servicing reports.
- Prepare coaching notes, athlete support plans, and feedback reports for relevant stakeholders.
- Provide regular technical progress updates to the National Head Coach, Sport Director, and VP (Diving).
- Assist with workshops, technical education sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the diving community.
- Ensure adherence to safety, risk-management, and safeguarding standards during all training sessions.
- Support programme operations, camps, and international training blocks when required.
