We are expanding rapidly and are seeking a pioneering Commercial Director to architect our market entry and drive growth across Southeast Asia.
Role Summary
The Commercial Director for Southeast Asia will be a key leadership figure responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy to secure large-scale, strategic partnerships. This role focuses on acquiring and managing hyperscale, major cloud, and large internet clients. The ideal candidate is a strategic hunter with a proven track record of selling complex, high-value infrastructure solutions and building long-term C-level relationships within the target ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Market Development: Develop and own the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for the Southeast Asia region, identifying key target segments, clients, and partners within the internet, cloud, and technology sectors.
- Deal Origination & Leadership: Lead the entire sales cycle from initial prospecting and lead generation to negotiation and closing of long-term, high-value contracts for data center capacity and services.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, executive-level relationships with key decision-makers (CTO, Head of Infrastructure, SVP Cloud) at target hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and large internet companies.
- Market Intelligence: Act as the market expert for Southeast Asia, providing insights on competitive landscape, pricing, market trends, and customer needs to inform product development and commercial strategy.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with internal teams including Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Operations to structure bespoke, complex deals and ensure a seamless transition from sale to service delivery.
- Pipeline & Forecasting: Maintain an accurate and robust sales pipeline, providing regular forecasts and performance reports to the Sales VP and senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8+ years of sales experience gained in Data Centre/ Cloud business, with a significant portion in a senior, strategic hunting role.
- Proven and verifiable track record of consistently closing large, complex deals in the Southeast Asian market.
- Essential: Deep existing relationships and a strong network within the internet, cloud, and technology sectors (e.g., Hyperscale Cloud Providers, SaaS companies, Large Tech/Internet companies) in Southeast Asia.
- Experience selling complex infrastructure solutions. While direct data center sales experience is a strong advantage, we will strongly consider candidates from adjacent fields such as:
- Telecom / Network Infrastructure
- Cloud & IT Services
- Enterprise Software / SaaS (to the same target audience)
- Major Equipment Sales (e.g., to data centers)
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and translate them into compelling business value for clients.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at the C-suite level.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively travel between S.E.A and China.
