The Chief Engineer (Projects) will lead and manage all engineering-related projects within Fullerton Hotels Singapore, including major renovations, asset enhancement initiatives, and critical infrastructure upgrades. This role is responsible for strategic project planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with safety, quality, and sustainability standards. The position plays a key role in supporting operational excellence and long-term asset management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Leadership
  • Plan, manage, and execute engineering and renovation projects from concept to completion.

  • Develop detailed project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.

  • Ensure projects meet brand standards, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.

Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Finance, Procurement) and external vendors, contractors, and consultants.

  • Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate with hotel operations to minimize guest disruption during project execution.

Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Implement rigorous QA/QC processes, including inspections, testing, and commissioning.

  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.

  • Secure all necessary permits and licenses for project execution.

Risk & Cost Management
  • Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans.

  • Oversee cost planning, tender evaluation, and contract administration.

  • Monitor budgets, certify progress payments, and manage variations to safeguard financial objectives.

Innovation & Sustainability
  • Drive energy efficiency and sustainability projects aligned with corporate ESG goals.

  • Recommend innovative technologies to enhance operational efficiency and guest experience.

Technology & Documentation
  • Leverage project management tools and digital platforms to streamline workflows and reporting.

  • Maintain accurate records, as-built drawings, warranties, and manuals for smooth operational transition.

Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in project management within hospitality or commercial properties.

  • Strong knowledge of Singapore building codes, statutory requirements, and authority submissions.

  • Proven track record in managing large-scale engineering projects and capital works.

  • Expertise in contract administration, tendering, and cost control.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets effectively.
