Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Sales at The Laurus at Resorts World Sentosa will assist in the overall Sales function. This involves planning and organising Sales & Marketing activities as well as leading and directing the sales team towards achieving business results.

The Assistant Director of Sales functions as the leader of the property’s sales effort and is responsible for implementing the sales strategy and achieving revenue goals. Leads and manages all day-to-day activities related to sales with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of sales objectives. Achieves personal sales goals and makes recommendations on sales goals of direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Strategy Development:

  • Participate in the preparation of the Strategic Business and Operating Plans including preparing annual Sales and Marketing Plan.
  • In conjunction with Assistant Director, Marketing and Yield Management provide timely and relevant information on hotel, resort and market trends, to enable the leadership team to make proactive decisions to improve the revenue, brand awareness, reputation and profitability of the hotel.
  • Review and participate in the yield management techniques for Rooms including development and execution of Web strategy – by segment.
  • Participation in developing and reviewing rate structures and conditions applicable to various segments, based on market feedback and market conditions.
  • From market research, assist in the development of new products and guest services in all revenue generating departments, consistent with the goal of exceeding budget and guest expectations.
  • With the Assistant Director of Marketing, prepare and present monthly (or when required) forecasts and P&L analysis.
  • Analyse the activities of competitor hotels, including their customer base, with the aim of developing and securing new business and providing a market advantage.
  • Identify, execute and implement promotions, strategies and special events with Marketing team.
  • Prepare 12 monthly measurable action plans incorporating sales and marketing activities to achieve budget.
  • Assist in the preparation and implement annual business plan for the department. Define the strategic positioning of the department both in the internal and external environment and analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

2. Revenue Management

  • With Rooms Yield (Revenue Management) be responsible for total revenue development, across all market segments, within the hotel, through sourcing, securing and maximising all Sales & Marketing opportunities to exceed budget.
  • Share in the establishment of revenue targets for the annual hotel Business Plan for rooms.
  • Develop and action a comprehensive promotional schedule addressing revenue, brand awareness and reputational improvement activities.
  • Identify, evaluate and secure appropriate sponsorships and partnerships that generate exposure for hotels and assist in the generation of revenues and brand awareness.
  • In conjunction with the Finance Department, responsible for meeting financial forecasts and budgets; whether the department is revenue and profit producing or focused on cost control.
  • Analysis and report preparation will include, but not be limited to, preparation and understanding of profit and loss statements, Opex, capital expenditure proposals and understanding and explanation of variations between forecasts and results.

3. Sales Management:

  • Oversee all forms of hotel image distribution to ensure the Hotel meets Marriott and RWS standards for image and brand, including internal/external websites, photography and signage.
  • Direct the activities of the internal associates and outside agencies on public relations, advertising and direct sales & marketing campaigns. Supervise the quality and standard of all sale’s promotional aids, collateral and merchandising items.
  • Participate in trade shows, conventions and promotional events, within the hotel, the industry and customer organizations, domestic and international.
  • Work with the RWS brand team to ensure compliance with all Marriott and RWS marketing, brand and sales related standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marriott Global Sales Office and RWS Sales teams to foster relationships with Consortia, Luxury Travel Agents, Professional Conference Organisers, OTA Market Managers, Marriott Corporate Sales, Distribution, Marketing and PR teams to drive revenue.

4. Performance Analysis:

  • Assist in leading the department in establishing specific and measurable goals covering all aspects of the Departments operation, devising and implementing action plans for their achievement.
  • Preparation of internal administration documents on a timely basis, correspondence, record keeping, direct purchasing and the establishment and maintenance of par levels as appropriate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Sales and Marketing management in hospitality industry
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of hotels operations and service standards, preferably within Luxury Hotels and Resorts.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in forecasting and budget management.
  • Exceptional ability to establish and foster long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
