Job description
Job Purpose

The VDI Solutions Architect will be responsible for leading the end-to-end design, capacity planning, and strategic roadmap for enterprise VDI and digital workspace services across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, scalable VDI architectures, while also establishing and governing standards, best practices, and automation frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Roadmap
  • Develop High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation for VDI and digital workspace solutions.
  • Conduct capacity planning, workload sizing, and perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) analyses.
Platform Strategy & Governance
  • Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and naming conventions for VDI images, builds, and configurations.
  • Implement governance models for change management, security compliance, and lifecycle management of VDI platforms.
Automation & Integration
  • Design infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, and Ansible for repeatable, scalable deployments.
  • Integrate VDI environments with identity and access management systems, endpoint management tools, and cloud orchestration platforms (e.g., Azure AD, Okta, Workspace ONE).
Performance Optimization & Capacity Management
  • Lead initiatives for performance tuning, predictive capacity planning, and dynamic scaling.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards and operational runbooks to support trend analysis and cost efficiency.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Coordinate workshops with application, networking, and security teams to ensure cross-platform compatibility and integration.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and conduct technical reviews to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills (retain existing core requirements):
  • Strong expertise in VMware/Omnissa Horizon, App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM), vSphere, and NSX.
Architect-Level Competencies
  • Architecture & Design – Design of multi-site, hybrid-cloud VDI environments (e.g., on-prem to Azure/AWS). Capacity planning, sizing, and cost modeling.
  • Automation & IaC – Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell scripting for automated provisioning and scaling. Experience with CI/CD pipelines for VDI image creation and patching.
  • Security & Compliance – Microsegmentation strategy development using NSX-T or Firewalld. VDI integration with enterprise IAM protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth2).
  • Cloud & Hybrid Integration – Hands-on experience with Horizon Cloud on Azure and/or AWS. Designing disaster recovery and cloud bursting solutions.
  • Performance & Capacity Management – Creation of custom dashboards in vROPS and leveraging predictive analytics. Storage performance tuning for both persistent and non-persistent desktop pools.
  • Leadership & Governance – Leading architecture review boards and implementing change control processes. Reviewing and mentoring peers on HLD/LLD documentation.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Experience
  • Banking sector experience preferred.
  • 10+ years in private cloud infrastructure engineering or equivalent roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years in leading VDI design and architecture engagements.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale private cloud environments.
