Job Description

Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services.
Prepare reports

Adhere to the chain of command
Perform other duties related to the work as assigned by the Manager / supervisor as needed.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with Vendors, Physicians and Staff.
Maintains regulatory requirements, including all national and international regulations.
Wears identification while on duty
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital
Excellent attendance record.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Maintains organizational confidentiality at all times.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
Completes annual education requirement.
It is the duty of every employee to report any negative or abnormal or unexpected event / incident as soon as possible after its occurrence by filling the appropriate Electronic Occurrence Variance Report (eOVR).
Follows and assists in the implementation and interpretation of policies and procedures. Review RCMC IPPs manual (computer system) annually.
Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, customer service, safety, compliance standards and all others.
Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and organization polices and procedure and take appropriate action to correct any area of non-compliance.
Attends and actively participates in meetings of committees as assigned. Assists in data collection for quality improvement.
Attend 75% of all department meetings.
Attends annual review and annual departmental competencies.
Demonstrable ongoing and active continuous education. Maintain RCMC annual competencies.
Integrates Trans-cultural principles into nursing care.
Excellent attendance record.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with Physicians and Staff.
The pediatric staff nurse is expected to have knowledge of all clinical aspect related to this area but not be directly involved.
Collects current symptoms, as well as a detailed patient history and then consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the infants / child immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by RCMC policies, procedures or protocols.
Develops plan of care that is individualized for the infant / child reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for the infant / child and his / her family.
Provides individualized patient / family education customized to the infant / child and his / her family.
Documents patient assessment findings, physical / psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution.
Attend annual (or more frequent) appraisal.
Prepares and administers and records medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy.
Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients.
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
Arrange for patient transfer to other departments and, complete required documentation.
Provides orientation & Preceptorship to new nursing.
Provide education to patients, families, regarding medical and / or surgical procedure.
Practicing infection control methods / protocols.
Reading and interpreting patient charts; Detecting unusual patient behavior related to specific health conditions.
Assist with the orientation of new employees to the department.
Supervise and provide nursing students / interns opportunities to observe and learn.
Communication and interpersonal techniques as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. Sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Deals with patients, families and careers in order to aid resolution of complaints.
Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation protocols.
Keeping abreast of current research, best practices, and advancements in pediatric nursing to maintain competency and improve practice.
Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of pediatric care and patient outcomes.
The Pediatric staff nurse is expected to have knowledge of all equipment used in the area, however may not have daily clinical involvement.
