Job Purpose

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government‑to‑Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Simulator Shift Supervisor is responsible to the Simulator Team Leader for providing first‑line supervision of maintenance production, quality and manpower management in support of the Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs) under the LOA3 Project. The primary duty is the day‑to‑day running of the simulator engineering department, ensuring that the simulators and training devices are available for operations as required and, in a condition, consistent with achieving operational and training capability targets.

They will be responsible for the management of engineering and administrative support to the AMO as directed by the Simulator Team Leader; including but not limited to the management and implementation of all relevant company policies: managing the engineers under control and ensuring that sufficient are available at all times to support operations and accomplish all assigned maintenance tasks. Ensuring the correct accomplishment and recording of periodic maintenance inspections of the flight simulators. You will ensure discrepancies reported by instructors / aircrew are correctly recorded in the assigned Training Management Information System (TMIS). Assign suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) to perform jobs. Ensures that engineers use the correct technical data, tools and test equipment when working on the simulator, and that all maintenance documentation and TMIS records are fully completed. Ensure that all operations, inspections, and maintenance documents are prepared and maintained correctly. Reviewing new and amended technical publications for applicability to the simulators and where necessary, ensure that the engineers are informed of any changes. Liaising with the simulator logistics specialist on all supply matters and ensures that a suitable priority is assigned to all requests. Also liaising with instructor/aircrew throughout the shift to ensure that the simulators are always ready for use. Ensuring that the Simulator Cockpit, Instructor’s Operating Station and required Databases are set up prior to a training sortie, as required to meet the training schedule. Monitoring the simulator maintenance environment to ensure that the area is kept in a clean and safe condition. Where suitable, delegate secondary duties to engineers. Deputising for the Simulator Team Leader as required.

Job Accountabilities
  • Work Direction: RSAF Policies and procedures; M&CA Mandates; Rects Maintenance Manager.
  • Decision‑Making Authority: Aircraft fault identification and rectification; Aircraft maintenance scheduling; SQEP levels within their team of engineers; Scheduling of resource to deconflict with the operational requirement.
  • Planning / Organising: Undertake activities to ensure BAE Systems maintenance support is delivered effectively to meet RSAF requirements and mitigate any activities likely to prejudice maintenance or safety, while remaining within the constraints the RSAF may apply to the Hawk Fleet.
  • Provide support to the Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) to ensure delivery of serviceable aircraft out of Phase Dock to accomplish contractual operational and flying commitments.
  • Provide accurate and up‑to‑date information to Team Leaders to ensure the Phase Dock schedule is achieved, ensuring solutions to any arising issues are identified and rectified during Phase Dock activities.
  • Manage the repairable components into the supply repair channel, ensuring their team maintains efficient and effective supply discipline.
  • Ensure procedural compliance governing Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) calibration cycles, Support Equipment maintenance cycles, and the Tool Control system.
  • Use knowledge and skills to act as a leader and mentor in the training and education of trainees in a multicultural environment.
Recruitment Specification – Essential

Qualified to Degree level or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or related field with military add‑on training applicable to trade or national civilian / military equivalent and successful completion of a recognised national aircraft maintenance traineeship / apprenticeship OR EASA Category B Licence, with military add‑on training applicable to trade.

Recruitment – Essential
  • Extensive proven post‑qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR substantial proven experience on same equipment type.
  • Relevant type training or equipment specific training.
  • Experience on CAE equipment.
  • Leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel.
Desirable
  • Experience working knowledge of EASA Part 145 & 147.
  • Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures.
  • Broad aerospace and defence company / industry knowledge.
  • Proven supervisory experience within the area of definition.
