Job Summary
The Senior Director of Assets & Maintenance is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and oversight of all asset and maintenance management activities across the Transport Authority’s infrastructure network. This includes metro, bus, micromobility, cable cars, eVTOL and associated support assets such as depots, stations, buildings, and administrative facilities.
The role ensures that all physical assets deliver maximum lifecycle value, meet operational, maintainability and safety requirements, comply with all regulatory standards, and support the Transport Business Unit’s customer service and operational delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and implement the Transport Authority’s Asset Management Strategy and Maintenance Master Plan in alignment with corporate objectives and international best practices.
- Lead long-term asset and maintenance planning, ensuring optimization of lifecycle costs, sustainability, and resilience.
- Oversee the development of asset management and maintenance policies, procedures, work instructions and standards to ensure consistency across all modes and facilities.
Asset & Maintenance Management
- Direct the asset management and maintenance requirements of all transport assets, including rolling stock, infrastructure, systems, and facilities.
- Ensure efficient and effective maintenance regimes are in place, incorporating reliability centred, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Establish asset performance monitoring systems and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess asset condition, reliability, and availability.
- Drive the adoption of digital asset and maintenance management tools, data analytics, and technology-enabled maintenance programs.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all asset operations comply with safety, environmental, maintainability and regulatory standards.
- Oversee risk management processes related to asset reliability, availability, maintainability, integrity, and lifecycle performance.
Financial & Contract Management
- Develop and manage asset and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery and value for money.
- Oversee maintenance contracts, service-level agreements, and outsourcing arrangements, ensuring supplier performance meets required standards.
- Provide input into capital investment planning, renewal programs, and replacement strategies.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across various modes and asset categories, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Liaise with internal departments, operators, maintainers, consultants, and contractors to ensure integrated asset and maintenance management.
- Build partnerships with industry, technology providers, and academic institutions to drive innovation and best practices.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Asset Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Master’s degree in engineering, Asset Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- Professional certification in Asset Management (e.g., IAM, ISO 55000) or Chartered Engineer status (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in asset management, safety critical or safety relayed maintenance, or infrastructure operations within large-scale transport or utility environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing complex multi-modal transport assets and teams.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing asset management systems, digital maintenance technologies and regimes.
