Overview
The Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the organization’s operations to ensure operational effectiveness, service excellence, quality, and adherence to timelines, while ensuring cost-effective management of resources. The role requires a strategic leader who can actively participate in the annual strategic planning process and monitor progress through quarterly Strategic Planning & Corporate Performance meetings, ensuring operational objectives and targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for all operational activities across construction, contracting, and project execution in the Power & Energy sector.
- Ensure operational effectiveness, service delivery, quality standards, and cost optimization across projects.
- Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Participate in strategic planning and align operations with organizational goals.
- Monitor and evaluate performance against set objectives in quarterly performance meetings.
- Drive compliance with OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional operational teams to ensure a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Ensure effective bid management, commercial practices, and estimating strategies to support business growth.
- Manage client relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Finance, HR, Quality, and Procurement).
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
Necessary Knowledge & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience, with at least 6 years in executive management roles within construction, contracting, or industrial operations in the Power & Energy sector.
- Comprehensive technical expertise in contracting and construction operations.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, construction contracts, and estimating methods/techniques.
- Experience in bid management, commercial practices, and cost control.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale industrial/construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 standards and their implementation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline from a reputed institution.
- Master’s Degree in Management / MBA (preferred).
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, APMP) is a strong advantage.
