Department Information

The Department of Dentistry at this hospital provides oral and maxillofacial care and required state-of-the-art dentistry for tertiary care in- and out-patients, as well as for eligible medically healthy outpatients. As available, remaining clinic time is utilized to provide primary dental care for Hospital employees and their dependents. The mission is accomplished by engaging in clinical practice, teaching, research, continuing education, medical outreach, and by providing consultative service to other hospital departments and outside institutions.

The tertiary care services are available for patients : (a) who are medically compromised and have a well-defined relationship between their systemic health problems and their oral health, whose medical condition may make routine dental care hazardous without specific considerations and management, or who need dental / oral clearance prior to medical care at our institution, (b) who have oral-facial pain, (c) who require maxillofacial or comprehensive prosthetics, (d) who have facial deformities, or (e) who require general anesthesia for dental treatment.

The Department of Dentistry serves four major categories of patients :

  • Medically compromised (cardiac, oncology, BMT, organ transplant, renal, etc.)
  • Dental tertiary care (cleft lip & palate, craniofacial anomalies, oral cancer)
  • VIP / Protocol patients
  • Eligible Hospital Employees / Dependents

The Department also staffs the walk-in emergency dental clinic in the Family Medicine / Polyclinic area, as well as a satellite clinic, and provides team members to the Hospital's Cleft lip & Palate and Head & Neck tumor / oncology teams.

Dental Clinic has up to date digital network imaging (Carestream) including Cone-beam as well 3D Camera for Orthodontic cases, as well we have full CAD-CAM technology including 3D printer to make Crown, Bridges, Models, Implant surgical guides, custom made titanium plate and condyles for Maxillofacial surgery needs.
