Job summary

A leading construction management company in Saudi Arabia is seeking a skilled professional to evaluate and manage materials for critical projects. This role requires over 8 years of experience, including 6 years relevant to material specifications and compliance. Responsibilities include generating documents, assisting construction teams, and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture, along with strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years total experience required, with 6+ years relevant experience.
  • 3 years of experience in GCC is preferred.
  • Experience in product specification and material testing methodology for civil/architectural.

Responsibilities

  • Directly report to the Sr. Technical & Engineering Manager.
  • Undertake technical reviews and assessments of project materials.
  • Generate material qualification documents and technical reports.
  • Support existing vendors with technical queries and improvements.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor proposals for compliance.
  • Prepare material submittals and assist with client approvals.

Job description
Job Summary

To evaluate the materials required for a critical project compromising the massive projects in Qatar & KSA. This role is responsible for providing all necessary assistance to the construction team concerning all materials required for submittals, approvals, testing, sampling, etc., related to the project(s) main scope of works.

Job Responsibilities
  • Directly Reporting to the Sr. Technical & Engineering Manager / Director in the absence of the Material Manager.
  • Undertaking technical reviews and assessment of project materials specifications, providing comments, clarifications, and identifying risks as and when required.
  • Under the guidance of the Material Manager, generate material qualification documents, procurement specifications, and technical reports related to the full product material range. Ensures compliance with project specifications of all materials and legal requirements.
  • Support existing Vendor(s) / Service provider(s) technical support, develop and maintain technical liaison with vendors as part of continuous improvement, including responses to vendor material technology queries and clarifications as and when required.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the technical library with the relevant suppliers/subcontractor’s profiles, brochures, and catalogs.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor proposals in coordination with Construction to ensure the scope of work and commercial requirements are in line with the conditions as per the scope of work.
  • Prepare comparison sheets for management review and attend site meetings as needed to coordinate procurement requirements.
  • Responsible for preparing material submittals and subcontractor pre-qualifications, and shop drawings to consultants.
  • Assist project construction team with obtaining client / consultant approvals on material / subcontractors when needed.
  • Prepare matrix of all requirements, identify technical elements and detail options available.
  • Study contract documents to become thoroughly acquainted with exact requirements and specifications.
  • Respond to sub-contractors, suppliers, and site team to clarify vendors' / service providers' queries.
  • Identify / review all technical material requirements and identify VE (Cost Savings) opportunities.
  • Maintain tracking schedules, material products, and market availability.
  • Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies.
