Overview:
Dokainish & Company is seeking an experienced Kitchen Equipment Installation Inspector to support a major aviation‑related facilities program. The role focuses on supervising and inspecting the installation, integration, and commissioning of commercial and industrial kitchen equipment within large‑scale catering and food production environments. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with technical specifications, manufacturer requirements, and project quality standards. This is a full‑time position, and the selected candidate must be based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and supervise installation works for commercial and industrial kitchen equipment.
- Verify proper anchoring, leveling, alignment, and mounting of all equipment.
- Ensure all utility connections (electrical, plumbing, gas, drainage, steam, HVAC, and ventilation) are correctly executed according to approved drawings and manufacturer guidelines.
- Review and monitor installation of ventilation systems, extraction hoods, ducting, and fire suppression interfaces.
- Ensure all works comply with project specifications, equipment schedules, and shop drawings.
- Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and vendor teams to resolve installation issues or clashes.
- Monitor pre‑commissioning, start‑up, and commissioning activities for all equipment.
- Verify equipment performance and document test results in line with project commissioning plans.
- Prepare inspection records, punch lists, and quality reports.
- Ensure contractor adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout installation.
- Support validation of equipment submittals, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
Candidate Profile:
- Seasoned, hands‑on inspector with deep technical knowledge of commercial and industrial kitchen equipment and MEP interfaces.
- Strong site presence and leadership: able to supervise contractors, manage vendors, and enforce quality and safety standards on busy construction sites.
- Excellent at reading and interpreting technical drawings, equipment schedules, and MEP schematics with an eye for installation clashes and constructability issues.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and methodical in producing inspection records, punch lists, and commissioning documentation.
- Effective communicator with the ability to liaise with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and client stakeholders; able to provide clear technical direction and escalation.
- Proactive problem‑solver who anticipates installation risks, proposes pragmatic corrective actions, and follows through to resolution.
- Comfortable working in food production or aviation catering environments and committed to ensuring compliance with food‑safety and operational readiness requirements.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Technical Diploma or Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- 10+ years of experience in supervising installation of commercial or industrial kitchen equipment.
- Strong knowledge of equipment anchoring, utility connections, ventilation/exhaust systems, and commissioning workflows.
- Experience working in food production facilities, industrial catering plants, or in‑flight catering facilities (preferred).
- Familiarity with manufacturer requirements, safety standards, and MEP coordination best practices.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment layouts, and MEP schematics.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with contractors, vendors, engineers, and client stakeholders.
- Must have full professional proficiency in the English language.
Technical Coordination:
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural teams to ensure seamless integration of kitchen equipment.
- Review method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and equipment submittals.
- Identify installation issues or clashes early and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors during delivery, staging, installation, and commissioning phases.
Testing & Commissioning:
- Monitor pre‑commissioning, start‑up, and commissioning activities for all kitchen equipment.
- Confirm equipment is functioning as intended and achieves performance requirements.
- Witness FAT/SAT activities when required.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed, including checklists, punch lists, and commissioning reports.
Quality, Compliance & Safety:
- Enforce adherence to industry standards, food safety requirements, and local codes.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP‑related design and equipment handling requirements where applicable.
- Maintain strict safety practices on‑site and ensure subcontractors follow HSE protocols.
- Prepare daily reports, NCRs, and quality inspection records.
Location & Mobility:
KSA‑based. Regional travel flexibility required.
