Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Firefighter for a 2-year project in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The role involves emergency response, fire suppression, and rescue services, adhering to NFPA standards. Job description

Position: Firefighter – (NFPA Certified)

Location: Mecca, Saudi Arabia

Duration: 2 Years

Description of role

The Firefighter will be responsible for providing emergency response, fire suppression, and rescue services for a critical project in Mecca, ensuring protection of life and property in line with NFPA standards.

The role involves working in a multi‑national team, following strict safety protocols, and responding to fire, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents as per NFPA 1001 and Hazmat Awareness & Operations guidelines.

Roles and responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to fire, rescue, medical, and Hazmat incidents within the project/site as per NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II standards.
  • Perform fire suppression using appropriate techniques, equipment, and extinguishing agents for structural, industrial, and vehicle fires.
  • Carry out Hazmat Awareness & Operations level duties, including hazard recognition, initial isolation, evacuation assistance, and defensive control actions.
  • Conduct daily inspections, testing, and basic maintenance of firefighting vehicles, pumps, hoses, SCBA, and all fire/rescue equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Participate in scheduled fire drills, emergency response exercises, and pre‑incident planning activities on the project/site.
  • Follow all client, project, and Saudi regulatory safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, confined space, hot work, and lockout/tagout requirements where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate incident, training, inspection, and equipment check records as required by company and NFPA documentation practices.
  • Support fire prevention activities such as fire watch, basic safety briefings, and inspection of extinguishers, hydrants, and fire detection/suppression systems.
  • Work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, and remain fit for duty in a physically demanding environment.
  • Cooperate with client HSE, security, and medical teams to ensure a coordinated response and continuous improvement of emergency readiness.
Qualifications and certifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Firefighter in industrial, municipal, airport, or large infrastructure environments.
  • Valid NFPA 1001 – Firefighter Level I & II certification from a recognized training body (Pro Board/IFSAC or equivalent).
  • Valid Hazmat Awareness & Operations certification aligned with NFPA standards.
  • Physically fit and medically cleared for firefighting duties, including SCBA use and work in high‑temperature environments.
  • Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage for coordination in Mecca.
  • Previous Gulf experience (Saudi Arabia or other GCC countries) is preferred but not mandatory.
