Job summary

An international energy transition company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design of high and medium voltage systems for power infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In our 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia) of operation, we are working on the production and distribution of low‑carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We are also supporting the modernisation and development of energy grids, managing the setup and siting for new transmission and distribution networks, and using hydrogen to decarbonise the transport and industry sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Familiar with local and international codes and standards, General Design Criteria and Technical Guidelines, standard drawings, and standard guide specifications.
  • Familiarization with the applicable SEC's codes and standards (power transmission and distribution).
  • Review of A/E contractors design submittals, specifications, technical reports, calculations and coordinate work of other disciplines and departments.
  • Review and revise as necessary any technical specifications and drawings for bid packages related to the development of various power infrastructure projects.
  • Will implement methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and will select the most efficient and economical manner to meet our clients’ design objectives.
  • Works with other engineers on a team to provide technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
  • Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
  • Assists in the review of vendor drawings and shop drawings.
  • Potentially prepare concept of design and layouts, if required.
  • Performs field inspection and provides field support, as necessary during construction phases.
  • Provide response and technical solutions to RFI’s raised by Designers, Contractors, Operation and Maintenance.
  • Must work well within a dynamic team and serve as a technical consultant to the client.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with major course work in electrical engineering, or a related field of study.
  • 10 to 12 years of experience in designing high voltage and medium voltage systems including step down of power and substations for industrial clients and/or power companies.
  • Familiar with database of applicable international standards and norms in power engineering (IEC, IEEE, etc.)
  • Understanding of the development process of the power infrastructure of an area.
  • Conduct the design of electrical/mechanical systems and circuits needed in power facility projects.
  • Capable of reviewing the electrical modeling simulation and/or design calculations of electrical systems or circuits.
  • Understanding of power demands and requirements associated with all types of assets.
  • Estimate the power requirements based upon the available Master Plan and land use data.
  • Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders and government authorities plus developers, consultants and contractors working within the area under study or adjacent areas.
  • Professional Engineer (PE/Peng/Chartered Engineer) registration is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate continual progression of experience and expertise in relevant discipline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of computers and basic software applications such as AutoCAD and various programs modeling electrical systems, circuits, and devices such as ETAP, Power Factory, CYMCAP etc. Knowledge of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is not required, but a plus is if there is experience in those software packages. Prefer experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).

Security clearance

This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
