About the Role
The Business Architect acts as a bridge between business strategy and technology execution. You will focus on understanding, modeling, and analyzing the organization's business capabilities, processes, operating models, and information flows. Your work will provide critical context for technology decisions, ensuring that IT solutions effectively support and enable business objectives and transformation goals related to our operations and software product offerings.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and document the current state business architecture, including capabilities, value streams, processes, organizational structure, and information flows.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand strategic goals, challenges, and opportunities.
- Develop target state business architecture models and roadmaps aligned with strategic initiatives.
- Identify the impact of technology changes on business processes and capabilities.
- Define business requirements from an architectural perspective, ensuring clarity and alignment for technology solutions.
- Map business capabilities to underlying applications and technologies in partnership with other architects.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, capability enhancement, and business transformation through technology.
- Contribute to business case development and strategic planning by providing architectural insights.
- Maintain a repository of business architecture artifacts (capability maps, process models, etc.).
- Communicate business architecture concepts and value to both business and technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in roles such as business analysis, process improvement, management consulting, or business-focused architecture.
- Strong understanding of business modeling techniques (capability mapping, value stream mapping, process modeling - BPMN).
- Proven ability to analyze complex business problems and translate strategy into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (MBA preferred).
- +8 years of relevant experience.
- Formal Business Architecture certification (e.g., Certified Business Architect - CBA).
- Experience defining business architecture within technology companies, particularly linking business strategy to software product development capabilities.
- Experience working within complex industrial or large enterprise environments undergoing transformation.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, BIZBOK).
- Experience with business architecture modeling tools.
