Principal Functions
The BIM Coordinator is to assist the BIM Manager to lead and manage the BIM Modellers, together with the technical engineering teams to implement high quality digital models and design BIM documentation in 3D REVIT/ CIVIL 3D/ BIM models.
To be the centre of excellence for the coordination and management of the various BIM disciplines and of the REVIT/ CIVIL 3D and BIM work for a specific project and to coordinate the technical modelling and disseminate and train other BIM Modellers.
Priorities
- Provide coordination guidance and training to all members of staff involved in the creation of REVIT or CIVIL 3D models to a high level of accuracy;
- Provide guidance in the development of plans, sections, elevations and details from 3D REVIT, CIVIL 3D, and BIM models and particularly the coordination between disciplines;
- Guide and assist the modellers to clearly tag, log, annotate, dimension and detail design and production elements and drawings in REVIT or CIVIL 3D as necessary in accordance with the BIM standards as set out by the BIM Manager;
- Provide guidance to the modellers in the setting up of large sheet sets including revisions and mark‑ups for each project, including training to the modellers in plotting drawings in PDF, DWG or to paper plots;
- Significant knowledge and expertise in the various REVIT disciplines and be able to guide the modellers in the coordination and clash detection of the various disciplines;
- Ability to work in work sharing software and environments with central files located in dedicated servers or cloud based;
- Have detailed knowledge of BIM modelling, including development of the model library for each particular technical discipline and the overall BIM documentation;
Skills
The minimum required qualifications and experience for this position are as follows:
- A BSc engineering degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from a highly reputable and recognised university;
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience of advanced usage of REVIT, CIVIL 3D, BIM and VDC technologies, with hands‑on experience in AEC, media, and entertainment and/or manufacturing business driving the adoption of design authoring and collaborative tools;
- A minimum of 3 years as a senior BIM Modeller providing leadership and guidance to a team of multi-disciplinary BIM Modellers.
