Job Description Summary

The Test Engineer is responsible for performing activities related to the operation and maintenance of the Vibrations Laboratory. He/she works with other engineers and groups involved in day-to-day operation of the lab (sourcing, facilities, etc.) to meet customer requirements and comply to all applicable processes and procedures. The Vibe Lab provides service to internal customers (within GE) across groups (Aviation and non-Aviation); the service includes a variety of tests for mechanical and electrical components.

Job Description

Major Duties:

Execute activities to ensure the operation of the Vibe Lab with some guidance. All activities shall meet GE policies, standards, procedures, specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and any other special security requirements. Main activities include:

  • Instrumentation set-up (accelerometers, strain gages, etc.)
  • Test plan interpretation, creation, review
  • Test set-up definition
  • Test execution
  • Test troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Test reports creation
  • Equipment installation, commissioning, and verification as per applicable procedures
  • Equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Execute in-house calibrations

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace or related field
  • Strong knowledge on mechanical vibrations and heat transfer
  • Educated on instrumentation: methods, equipment, etc.
  • Able to use mechanical tools: wrenches, screwdrivers, power tools, etc
  • Familiar to manipulating electrical equipment
  • Effective and assertive written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Must be able to maintain technical conversations in English
  • Able to lead projects, manage tasks, resources and risks
  • Intermediate technical knowledge of common manufacturing processes
  • Proven contributions in a similar role or function
  • Ability to communicate across functions
