Job Description

The Trade Compliance US Specialist, based in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, will help develop and implement international trade compliance policies for the company. This role focuses on Lennox International’s import and export compliance in North America, ensuring adherence to U.S., Mexican, and other relevant regulations, such as EAR and Customs laws.

The individual chosen for this position will join the US Trade Compliance Team and will report directly to the Manager of Trade Compliance, key responsibilities are as follows:

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the import/export process, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develops and strengthens the trade compliance program.
  • Manages internal customs audits, tracks post‑entry issues, coordinates with external auditors for review, and processes post‑entry corrections with U.S. Customs.
  • Collaborates with cross‑functional departments—including sales, sourcing, accounting, shipping, and receiving—to integrate trade compliance into business operations.
  • Evaluates and determines approval or rejection of marking waiver requests.
  • Maintains records according to customs documentation requirements.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors metrics to measure trade compliance effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Interfaces with customs officials, government agencies, legal counsel, and trade compliance consultants.
  • Provides cross‑functional leadership and training on trade compliance matters.
  • Classifies parts, components, and finished products for import and export in accordance with U.S. and international HTS regulations; maintains classification master database; reviews and enhances classification procedures; coordinates with external auditors on classification, country of origin, valuation, preferential/free trade programs, and necessary corrections or disclosures related to U.S. Customs Broker activities.
  • Manages and coordinates internal customs reviews, monitors post‑entry issues, works with external auditors for audit review, and collaborates with the U.S. team on post‑entry corrections.
  • Works closely with other teams to incorporate import and export compliance within various business systems, including customer sales, order management, sourcing, accounting, and logistics.
  • Conducts research on valuation analysis, develops corrective action plans, and responds to third‑party inquiries.

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Finance, and at least 8 years of international or domestic customs experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with U.S. Import and Export Regulations, including ITAR regulations
  • Participation in the U.S. Customs ISA Program
  • S. Customs Broker experience in classification and shipment clearance
