A leading renewable energy firm is looking for a Performance Engineer to develop performance models for PV solar projects. The successful candidate will maintain energy models, utilize PVsyst for generating reports, and support project engineering teams. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or physics, over three years of experience in the energy sector, and be fluent in English. This permanent position is based in Puebla, Mexico, with a focus on both local and international projects.

Formación

Job Description

The Performance Engineer is responsible for development of PV solar utility scale performance models during the development, design-engineering, and/or O&M support phase of a project. This modeling includes the use of PVsyst, the industry standard software for energy modeling, as well as other ancillary tools and resources to stay current with prevailing PV solar modeling best practices. The Performance Engineer also supports PV and BESS (desired) performance testing. Interfacing with Engineering team, Development Team, GreenGo Energy Management and other externally, global environment, DK, US, and Mexico.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain energy models for PV solar and battery energy storage system (BESS - Desired) projects.
  • Utilize PVsyst to produce reports suitable for technical, commercial, and contractual use.
  • Responsible to interface with independent engineers and/or technical advisor of the investor to agree the yield estimations as per GGE energy assessment.
  • Develop ancillary systems to support energy modeling.
  • Support preliminary electrical system studies to inform system losses for performance modeling.
  • Review civil and electrical system drawings and layouts to ensure compliance with contract requirements and project energy models.
  • Contribute as team member in execution of assignments (report writing, data and industry research, analysis, modelling, etc.).
  • Perform ongoing research of solar technologies, generation modeling practices and the state of the industry.
  • Collaborate with equipment providers to analyze emerging technologies.
  • Support the SCADA design and commissioning of projects with an emphasis on the instrumentation requirements and data collection needs for performance testing.
  • Support data collection methods and procedures to meet contractual requirements for performance testing.
Organization
  • The role is based at GreenGo Energy offices, back-office in Puebla, Mexico or Headquarters in near to Copenhagen, Denmark, possible at another GGE office.
  • The Performance Engineer will report to the Design and Engineering (D&E) Director located in Mexico.
  • He/she will be leading Performance Engineering activities in collaboration with D&E team based in Mexico, to complete the task for US, and EU projects and as per GreenGo Energy countries expands.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Physics or other applicable discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in the energy sector, specifically, PV solar technology.
  • Strong technical knowledge of solar resource and performance modeling, mandatory experience with tools such as PVsyst, or other resource related software tools.
  • Knowledge of due diligence and risk assessment process.
  • Understanding of project contracts including power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, supply contracts, balance of plant construction contracts, and operations and maintenance contracts, desired.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of Gantt charts (MS Project or equivalent)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player
  • Fluent in English, Danish or Spanish as additional skills desired
