Job Description
Senior Sales Manager – Retail & Import Sourcing

Location: Mexico City

Territory: Mexico (with international sourcing responsibility)

Reporting to: Global Sales Director / Group CEO

Remit: Major Mexican Retailers & Importers

The Opportunity

We are a fast-growing international supply chain and sourcing group with operational offices in:

  • China, Vietnam, India, Turkey, Mexico, UK, Hong Kong

We supply major global retailers, wholesalers and importers with private-label and branded consumer goods across:

  • Home & household, DIY & hardware, Furniture, Garden, Seasonal, General merchandise, Value retail

We are now seeking a Senior Sales Manager based in Mexico City to build and scale our retail sourcing business with Mexico’s largest retailers and importers.

This role is focused on winning orders and replacing incumbent suppliers, trading companies and agents.

Target Customers

This role is focused on winning ADDITIONAL business with (we supply 4 of these retailers)

  • Liverpool, Soriana, Chedraui, Price Shoes, La Comer, Walmart Mexico, Waldo’s, and Other national and regional retailers and Importers and distributors and possible industrial manufacturers
Core Mission

Your mission is simple:

Win retail import programmes and convert them to our global sourcing platform.

You will:

  • Open doors with senior buyers
  • Replace incumbent vendors and agents
  • Secure long-term supply programmes
  • Build multi-category sourcing pipelines using our China, Vietnam, India and Turkey offices
Key Responsibilities
1. Retail Business Development
  • Develop senior-level buyer relationships at Mexico’s major retail groups
  • Originate and close private-label and import supply programmes
  • Convert buyers currently sourcing via agents and trading companies
  • Win preferred supplier and framework agreements
2. Account Management & Growth
  • Manage and grow key retail accounts
  • Expand into multiple categories and divisions
  • Build long-term partnerships with buying teams
3. Product & Sourcing Development
  • Work with our Asia sourcing offices to:
  • Develop product ranges
  • Cost engineer programmes
  • Consolidate vendor bases
  • Drive seasonal, promotional and core range programmes
4. Commercial Ownership
  • Own your sales pipeline and revenue target
  • Deliver annual growth targets
  • Build a scalable retail sourcing portfolio
Target Candidate Profile

We are looking for a retail sourcing rainmaker with:

Mandatory Experience
  • 10+ years retail buying, sourcing or sales experience
  • Proven relationships with the major Retailers, wholesalers and importers into South America
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Import programmes
  • Private label
  • FOB sourcing
  • Asian manufacturing
Ideal Background

What Success Looks Like
  • 3–5 major retail customers onboarded within 6 months, plus major appointments within 90 days

  • Preferred supplier status with at least 2 major retailers
Compensation & Incentive Package

Senior Retail Rainmaker Package (Recommended)
Base Salary

MXN $850,000 – MXN$1,200,000 per annum

Commission

5%–7% of Gross Margin Generated, on receipt of funds from Customers

Paid quarterly

Uncapped

Example:

  • $5m revenue @ 10% margin = $500k GP
  • 6% commission = $30k bonus
  • $10m revenue = $60k bonus
Strategic Account Bonuses – with Confirmed Orders
  • $250,000 MXN for each NEW national retailer onboarded
  • $500,000 MXN for each multi-category framework agreement
  • $1,000,000 MXN bonus for $10m+ annual account
