A global e-commerce leader is seeking a Senior Manager for Mexico Public Policy. This role involves leading the public policy team, developing advocacy objectives, and educating government officials about the company’s operations in Mexico. The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of relevant experience and a deep understanding of Mexico's policy landscape. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate advocacy efforts and manage high-level government relations.

Formación

Senior Manager, Mexico Public Policy

Work hard, have fun and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Senior Manager, Mexico Public Policy, will lead Amazon’s public policy team in Mexico, and will be responsible for developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon in the country. The Senior Manager will effectively educate key government officials and their staff on Amazon’s business in Mexico and on policy issues that impact our businesses, customers, and employees.

The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with business units, Legal, PR and other internal operations teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. This position will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. The Senior Manager will facilitate high‑level meetings for executives and business leaders with key policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in Mexico.

This position will report to the Director, Public Policy, and work closely with other public policy team members to execute on goals. The position will be based in Mexico City, Mexico.

  • Assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions.
  • Coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with business objectives.
  • Facilitate high‑level meetings for executives and business leaders with policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in Mexico.
  • Report to the Director, Public Policy, and work closely with other public policy team members to execute on goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies.
  • At least 12 years of relevant public policy experience, a keen working understanding of the Mexican government and public policy environment, and broad government relations strategy experience.
  • Ability and desire to travel is required.
  • Experience working in or with multinational companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon’s business and a manager of complex regulatory and political issues.
  • Expert understanding of Mexico’s legislative and regulatory policymaking processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging.
