A leading manufacturing firm in Mexico is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to provide support in various accounting functions including general ledger transactions and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and over 5 years of experience in financial and cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in ERP systems and Excel are required.
Job OverviewWe are searching for an experienced Senior Accountant who will work closely with the Accounting Supervisor in providing accounting support for general ledger transactions, account reconciliations, SOX controls and ERP implementation support.
The Senior Accountant will also assist with cost accounting, margin reviews and fluctuation analysis.
A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of US and Mexico accounting.
This individual must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment.ResponsibilitiesPrepare journal entries and account reconciliations required for the monthly close, including complex accounts such as accruals, deferred revenue, inventory, and reserves.Maintain and review the general ledger for accuracy and compliance.Perform reporting activities throughout the month on margins, absorption and other metrics to ensure accuracy of gross margins.Assist with flux / variance analyses.Ensure proper classification of expenses and adherence to accounting policies.Research technical accounting issues for compliance with US GAAP, as needed.Complete monthly consolidation load (i.E., trial balance, supplemental forms, etc.).Support credit, collections, and vendor management as needed.Review AR and AP transactions for accuracy and completeness.Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors.Ensure compliance with SOX or internal control requirements.Coordinate tax filings by providing necessary documentation.Partner with operations, supply chain, HR, and sales on accounting matters.Support system implementations or upgrades.Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows.Implement automation tools or improved procedures.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.Additional Staff Accounting duties, as assigned.
Skills and AbilitiesProficient in English.Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years' experience in financial accounting / cost accounting in a manufacturing environment required.Experience with maquiladoras preferred.Proficient with the use of ERP systems.Proficient in Microsoft Office programs : Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
