Overview
The Product Marketing Specialist will play a key role in shaping the success of GM’s premium brands—Buick, GMC, and Cadillac—by driving product strategy, pricing, incentives, and market positioning. This role blends analytical rigor with brand‑building creativity, ensuring each product aligns with customer expectations, competitive dynamics, and business objectives. You’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Sales, Finance, Product Planning, and Brand Marketing to deliver data‑driven recommendations and execute strategies that elevate our premium portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Planning
- Support long‑range product planning for Buick, GMC, and Cadillac, including feature packaging, lifecycle updates, and competitive benchmarking.
- Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive activity to inform product decisions and positioning.
- Partner with engineering and planning teams to ensure product offerings align with brand identity and customer expectations.
- Pricing & Incentives
- Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, profitability, and brand equity.
- Recommend monthly and quarterly incentive programs based on market conditions, inventory levels, and sales performance.
- Monitor pricing effectiveness and adjust strategies to optimize volume and margin.
- Market & Competitive Analysis
- Conduct ongoing analysis of segment trends, competitor actions, and consumer behavior.
- Prepare executive‑ready reports and insights to guide decision‑making.
- Track performance metrics and identify opportunities to strengthen market share.
- Brand Building & Positioning
- Ensure product messaging aligns with the premium positioning of Buick, GMC, and Cadillac.
- Collaborate with brand teams to develop compelling product stories, launch materials, and sales tools.
- Support dealer communication and training to reinforce product value and differentiation.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and Marketing to align product strategies with business goals.
- Provide clear, concise communication to stakeholders at all levels.
- Support product launches, events, and internal reviews with data‑driven insights and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive product marketing, pricing, incentives, or product planning.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting to senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
- Deep understanding of the automotive industry, particularly premium or luxury segments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
