Job Description
The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete financial records, ensuring proper accounting entries, and supporting closing activities each month and each year. It is critical to the integrity of financial data and audit processes.
Job Responsabilities and Functions
- Keep financial and accounting records current by accurately recording all transactions in a timely manner.
- Create, validate, and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, reclasses, and adjustments.
- Carry out monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities to deliver complete and precise financial results.
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts such as intercompany, fixed assets, prepaid items, and other control accounts.
- Review account fluctuations and resolve discrepancies to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare detailed schedules and documentation required for financial statements and audit processes.
- Work closely with AP, AR, payroll, and other finance functions to guarantee correct transaction posting.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant standards (Mexican NIF, IFRS, US GAAP).
- Support the planning and execution of internal and external audits.
- Provide reliable ledger information and supporting documents for tax filings and compliance.
- Take part in month-end and year-end close meetings, sharing updates and addressing issues.
- Oversee fixed asset records and depreciation processes for Mexico, IFRS/IFRS 16, and US GAAP reporting requirements.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting by supplying historical financial data and analysis.
- Suggest improvements to streamline processes and strengthen compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or finance having the same responsabilities.
- Advanced English proficiency
- SAP experience and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Cash flow forecasting experience.
- Knowledge of Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (NIF), IFRS and US GAAP.
- Experience reporting various financial results, including IFRS for group reporting, Mexico reporting, US reporting.
- Experience in the automotive industry and international companies or Big Four companies.
Salary Range
$47,000 to $50,000 Gross Salary per month plus Benefits above the law.
