Job title and purpose
They contribute to Train Lab preparation and operation: Secure TrainLab readiness, hardware installation, integration and commissioning. Prepare TrainLab configuration for test execution. Support test teams during test execution, ensuring availability of the functional test means. Execute train level functional tests by delegation from TVE when applicable. Scope is extended to other functional test means: Co-simulation computers and TCMS Testbench.

Reports directly to: Trainlab Manager.
Other reporting to: Train Validation Engineer and Validation & Technical Leader from Train Control for Co-simulation computers and TCMS Testbench.
Direct reports: None.

Main responsibilities

Performance / KPI measures

  • Measure the maturity and the readiness of the TrainLab at each GR.
  • Functional coverage of the TrainLab at each validation campaign (with TVE).
  • Delivery: On-time configuration of the TrainLab.
  • TrainLab efficiency on test execution: the percentage of time used for test execution (e.g., 90%).

Additional responsibilities

  • Time to implement 1 new configuration; Time to start the Trainlab.
  • 100% compliant with EHS rules (in particular regarding activities performed on TrainLab and TestBench).
  • Collect inputs for Test means configurations and analyse their quality.
  • Test means applicable configuration definition; Train LV schematics.
  • Train equipment models: basic functional models (from TC); Software in the Loop + Environmental Models; Hardware in the Loop; TCMS software and associated deliverables (ICD).
  • Development of environmental models; Preparation of TrainLab: subsystem hardware integrations, commissioning of uLab and guest cubicles, network deployment with IS&T.
  • Generate configurations for functional Test means and verify coherence with TCR (Target Configuration Release) and Train Needs.
  • Perform specific investigations and measurements linked to TrainLab environment and contribute to continuous improvement of tools: LV modeling, equipment modeling, configuration tools.
  • Support the TE during test execution (may be 3×8 shift) and provide analysis for anomalies detected during test (Subsystem anomalies, TrainLab limitations, Configuration issues, etc.).
  • Execute train level functional test by delegation from TVE when applicable.
  • Support CE and SE during system commissioning and investigation activities.
  • Compile and sustain standard documentation for configuration generation.
  • Support deployment and animation of Test means performance KPIs.
  • Support the test engineer on report creation and TPRs analysis.
Main required competencies
  • Educational requirements: Master of Science (Engineering, Physical Sciences or others).
  • Experience: Practical knowledge of validation means (Testbench, simulators…); practical experience in software integration & validation phases (minimum 2 years’ experience in Railway or Health, Defence, Aeronautical, Automotive domains).
  • Practical knowledge of validation methods (boundary tests, equivalent class tests…); validation tools (TestStand, model-based testing tools…).
  • Hardware integration; Software coding; Troubleshooting (electric, network, tools platform).
  • Functional validation; Communication; Autonomous; Rigorous; Teamwork.
