An accredited conformity assessment organization is seeking a skilled Technical Manager Engineer in the Milan area. Inspection & EU Vehicle Type Approval Location: Milan area (Italy)

Sida Advisory is recruiting a Technical Manager Engineer for an Italian accredited conformity assessment organization operating in inspection, certification and EU vehicle type approval, part of an international industrial group.

The Role

As Technical Manager Engineer, you will act as the central technical authority, ensuring compliant and consistent delivery of inspection and certification activities, with a strong focus on standards, regulatory interpretation, technical decisions and team competence.

Requirements (Must-have)
  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace or related).
  • 10+ years in technical roles within transport/automotive/aerospace or similarly regulated industries.
  • 5+ years in a management role within an accredited conformity assessment body (inspection/certification/testing).
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17020 and/or ISO/IEC 17021-1 and EU type-approval processes.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) + local language proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021-1 and relevant transport / type-approval regulations.
  • Maintain and improve technical procedures, methodologies and instructions.
  • Interpret EU and national transport legislation and translate it into operational practices.
  • Manage technical queries with clients, auditors and competent authorities (e.g., Ministry of Transport).
  • Partner with the Quality Manager on audits, nonconformities, root-cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Lead and mentor inspectors/auditors/technical staff; manage training, competence and authorizations.
  • Review and approve technical reports and certification decisions.
  • Oversee technical equipment management (calibration/maintenance) and technical risk mitigation.
Requirements (Nice-to-have)
  • Lead Auditor / Lead Inspector qualification.
  • Experience with accreditation bodies and/or transport authorities.
  • Background in a Designated Technical Service (DTS) for EU type approval.
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP).
