SMS group is looking for a Supplier Qualification and Quality Assurance Senior Inspector for our Center of Excellence "Supply Chain Management".

Mission

Ensure product and process quality compliance throughout the supply chain, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and contractual standards. This role involves overseeing supplier qualification, quality control, and documentation management, collaborating with Purchasing, Project Management, Expediting, and Shipping to ensure the final product meets customer expectations and company objectives.

Activities
  • Conduct direct supplier inspections to verify technical and contractual compliance on machines.
  • Evaluate technical documents and product specifications to ensure quality throughout all phases of manufacturing.
  • Use measuring and testing instruments to monitor products and processes.
  • Collaborate with planning and project management functions via ERP systems (SAP).
  • Monitor and improve supplier quality performance.
  • Prepare and update quality control documentation for ongoing projects.
  • Perform technical acceptance and final equipment inspection activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, noting deviations or defects found to ensure traceability and quality control.
Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., metallurgy, engineering) preferred.

Experience: Previous experience, 5+ years in quality inspection in steel mills, re‑heating furnaces, and melt shops industry.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, technical documents, and specifications.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs, hardness testers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of NDT methods (e.g., dye-penetrant and magnetic particle testing).
  • Good knowledge of welding inspections in accordance with UNIEN ISO 3834 and UNI EN 1090.
  • Good knowledge on assembly and testing on main mills machines (stands, shares, pinch rolls...).
Soft Skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of English language (level B2/C1 or higher), both written and spoken.
  • Availability for medium‑term trips (60 days).
