This role requires leading project origination through to financial close, managing environmental assessments, and engaging with local authorities. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in the utility-scale solar sector in Italy, a strong engineering background, and fluency in both Italian and English. This is a senior-level role offering substantial ownership and progression opportunities.

We’re supporting a major, well‑funded solar developer with an established and fast‑growing European platform.

As part of their continued expansion in Italy, they’re looking to appoint a Senior Project Development Manager to lead the development of utility‑scale solar PV projects, from origination through to financial close.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of utility‑scale solar PV projects in Italy.
• Manage projects from origination through permitting, grid connection and financial close.
• Oversee land acquisition, environmental assessments and technical studies.
• Manage permitting processes and engagement with local authorities and grid operators.
• Identify and mitigate environmental, technical and regulatory constraints.
• Coordinate internal teams and external advisors across development milestones.
• Support handover of projects into construction and delivery teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience developing utility‑scale solar PV projects in Italy.
• Proven experience across land acquisition, permitting, grid connection and environmental constraints.
• Strong understanding of technical constraints and development risk.
• Technical background, with an engineering degree or similar.
• Experience with BESS projects is a strong advantage.
• Based in Rome or willing to relocate.
• Fluent Italian and English.
