A leading global insurance broker is seeking a Senior Producing Broker for their Reinsurance Treaty team in Italy, preferably based in Milan or Rome. The role entails maintaining an existing portfolio of Italian clients, generating new business, and managing complex reinsurance processes. Candidates should have around 10 years of experience in reinsurance, excellent sales capabilities, and be fluent in both Italian and English. The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement with opportunities across European offices.

Overview

Senior Producing Broker – Reinsurance Treaty team in Italy (Rome / Milan ideally) working mainly on Property & Casualty lines, with potential to develop other classes such as Cyber, Credit, Surety, or engineering. Life, MGAs or niche areas of expertise may also be pursued if the candidate believes business can be developed in these specific segments. The candidate will ideally be based in Rome or Milan, but Gallagher offers flexibility to work from other Gallagher Re offices in Europe, such as London, Zurich and Munich.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, process and manage an existing book of Italian clients.
  • Be commercial and proactive to develop new business.
  • Market complex reinsurance business to carriers on behalf of existing clients.
  • Develop and maintain a network of carrier and/or broker relationships.
  • Identify and analyze client exposures to recommend and design risk solutions.
  • Identify appropriate carriers, send requests, negotiate favorable reinsurance quotes and prepare recommendations for the client.
  • Generate revenue by securing new business and maintaining portfolio performance.
  • Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Work in a hybrid style with colleagues across different locations.
  • Demonstrate strong project‑management capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Fluent in Italian and English. Knowledge of Spanish, French, or German is a plus but not essential.
  • Reinsurance client‑facing experience required, either from a broker or carrier background.
  • Approximately 10 years of relevant reinsurance background.
  • Experience at a Big 4 consulting firm is considered if relevant reinsurance experience has been gained.
  • Excellent sales capabilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • A degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline is preferred.
