The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in designing automation software systems and managing teams. Responsibilities include analyzing software architectures, selecting technologies, and overseeing component testing. Proficiency in English is required along with a Master’s degree in computer science or software engineering.

Overview

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Automation Product Line Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Genoa, Italy. We are looking for a technician with experience (at least 10 years post-graduation) in designing automation software systems for all phases of the life cycle, and in managing and coordinating teams.

Accountabilities

• Analysis and definition of software systems architectures
• Selection of the most appropriate technologies for the context
• Planning of activities
• Design and implementation of software components
• Managing the testing and deployment of software components

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Knowledge of software design methodologies (agile methodologies, DevOps, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Object Oriented Analysis)
• In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Docker Swarm)
• Knowledge of technologies for building cloud-native systems
• Knowledge of Javascript, NodeJS, HTML/XML, HTML5, JSON, Java
• Knowledge of graphical Javascript tools (Angular-9, AngularJs, Bootstrap)
• Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
• Knowledge of Version Control systems (Git, SVN)
• Thorough knowledge of Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu)
• Ability to estimate and plan software development activities

Desired Skills / Knowledge

• Experience in the implementation of applications in rail and metro automation

Education / Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent

Languages
