Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Safety and Training Manager. The Safety and Training Manager will be a hands-on manager helping implement programs and procedures in compliance with State and Federal regulations and corporate and client policies. They will be accountable for the leadership of OSHA/CDL at the division level.

Job Responsibilities:

• Set the tone for ensuring all operators are current with training requirements of company and contract.
• Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current and meet the needs of the operating divisions.
• Reside as the expert in EPA and OSHA, CDL compliance, and regulations.
• Ensure all new hires meet minimum qualifications, including background and DMV checks.
• Utilize safety technology tools, analyze trend data, and develop plans to reduce safety incidents.
• Oversee corporate safety incentives and programs, including Safety Points.
• Promote a consistent safety culture across locations, emphasizing team approach and individual responsibility.
• Collaborate with claims staff to handle liability and worker's compensation claims promptly, aiming to reduce liability and recoup claims.
• Manage employee injury claims proactively to minimize lost time and facilitate quick return to full duty.
• Ensure successful completion of all safety-related audits by corporate, client, and regulatory agencies.
• Lead safety organization efforts regarding classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction as per specifications.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Maintain current safety manuals, policies, and practices.
• Ensure safety technology tools are used effectively for trend analysis and incident prevention.
• Manage safety and security incentives and programs.
• Complete daily paperwork related to schedule adherence, inspections, reports, and incidents.

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

• Transit safety experience.
• Experience in urban public transit preferred.
• Background in passenger transportation preferred.
• College Degree or 5+ years safety management experience.
• Certifications such as CDS or CSP preferred.
• Knowledge of safety regulations (FTA, FMCSA, DOT).
• Proficiency in English, communication skills, organizational skills, and computer literacy.
