A global research organization in Italy is hiring a Research Specialist to lead a longitudinal mixed-method study. The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to design the study and implement an effective strategy. Research Specialist – Digital

UNICEF Innocenti – Global Office of Research and Foresight is recruiting a Research Specialist to lead the inception phase of a new longitudinal mixed‑method study in the UK. The Specialist will work closely with the Programme Specialist (Digital) and Research Manager (Digital) to design the study, define its implementation strategy, identify key partners, and develop ethical and safeguarding mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Co‑design the longitudinal mixed‑method study, including research questions, methodology, and data collection instruments.
  • Define the implementation strategy, including timelines, resources, and partner engagement.
  • Identify and engage key partners, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and incorporate ethical, safeguarding, and data protection considerations and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the digital research team to ensure alignment with UNICEF Digital Engagement and Protection (DEP) unit objectives.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant social science discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience coordinating international research projects involving children.
  • Strong experience in research design, mixed‑method methods, and managing quantitative and qualitative data collection.
  • Experience coordinating longitudinal, school‑based, or multi‑country studies is highly desirable.
  • Strong research and project management skills, including leadership and people‑management abilities.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN official language is a plus.
  • Experience working in fast‑moving, dynamic project environments and dealing with complex research contexts.
