A technology services provider in Italy is seeking a Senior IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) System Administrator with 3-4 years of hands-on experience. This role entails installation, configuration, and administration of IBM WebSphere Application Server in enterprise environments. Responsibilities include performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and collaboration with infrastructure and application teams. Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and previous experience in regulated environments are crucial. Remote working options are available.

Competenze

We are recruiting for one of our clients a IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) System Administrator / Expert Role. We are looking for a senior IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) System Administrator / Expert, with hands‑on, day‑by‑day operational experience on IBM middleware environments. This is a strongly system‑oriented role. Profiles with only generic Java or application‑level exposure to WAS will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, configuration and administration of IBM WebSphere Application Server in enterprise environments
• Management of WAS Network Deployment (ND) architectures: Cell, Deployment Manager, Node / Node Agent, Clusters, JVM, thread pool and connection pool tuning and optimization
• Configuration of security (SSL, certificates, LDAP integration)
• Performance monitoring and advanced troubleshooting on production issues
• Support to upgrade and migration activities across WAS versions
• Close collaboration with infrastructure and application teams in mission critical contexts
• Remote work activities

Mandatory Technical Requirements

• At least 3–4 years of hands‑on, proven experience as WAS System Administrator
• Strong, practical experience on IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS 8.5.x / 9.0 Network Deployment)
• Solid experience on Linux / Unix environments
• Log analysis and root cause analysis
• High availability and enterprise‑grade setups
• Experience in regulated, enterprise environments (banking / financial services is a plus)

Nice to Have

• Experience with IBM HTTP Server (IHS)
• Experience with IBM MQ
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (bash, wsadmin)

Certifications (strongly preferred)

• IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere Application Server
