A healthcare partner organization is seeking a Medical Science Liaison based in Italy to support Medical Affairs and Clinical Development for rare diseases. The role includes engaging with clinical trial sites and building relationships with opinion leaders. Candidates should have a Master’s in Life Sciences, relevant experience, and strong communication skills. Travel up to 70% is required.

Overview

Location: Home base in Italy with 50-70% travel. Territory: Italy. Client: Biotech, Rare Diseases. Reports to: Program Director at Amplity Health.

Responsibilities
  • Support activities across Medical Affairs and Clinical Development objectives for the client’s portfolio of pipeline products.
  • Serve as a key interface with clinical trial sites across development programs, working with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations to ensure successful execution of high-quality clinical studies.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs to identify and engage opinion leaders within the medical community to communicate non-promotional scientific and medical information on disease states and/or pipeline products across therapeutic areas.
  • Act as primary interface between the client and clinical trial sites, ensuring alignment with local CD/Clinical Operations/CRO colleagues for flawless site execution.
  • Develop deep scientific expertise in neurology, genetics, and rare diseases; be a scientifically credible leader and collaborative partner.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators, and study staff within the assigned region.
  • Provide scientific support to Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Commercial and other cross-functional teams for key corporate strategies; support scientific congresses, advisory boards, speaker programs; share insights from fieldwork with cross-functional teams.
  • Operate in a highly ethical manner and comply with all laws, regulations and policies.
Requirements
  • Master’s or Diploma in Life Science (minimum).
  • At least 2 years of experience as Medical Science Liaison or similar field-based function in medical affairs.
  • Relevant therapeutic area knowledge, ideally neurology, genetics or rare disease.
  • Experience with clinical trial design, conduct and evaluation.
  • Biotech experience is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and the local country language where applicable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present medical/scientific information clearly.
  • Adept at developing relationships and building networks; excellent organizational skills and results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to influence without authority and negotiate with confidence; able to function independently and in a team within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Permanent residence within the assigned region; travel up to 50-70% of time.

  • Operate in a highly ethical manner and comply with all laws, regulations and policies.
  • Complete mandatory training in assigned timelines upon hire and when new policies, SOPs, or guidance are issued.
