A technology solutions company in Italy is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join their GeoNode product team. This role involves developing robust backend and frontend software, mentoring junior developers, and working collaboratively within a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience, knowledge in Python and GIS development, and familiarity with the React ecosystem. The position offers options for remote work, with an emphasis on long-term collaboration.

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our GeoNode product software development team. GeoNode is an open-source platform for managing and publishing geospatial data, designed to facilitate the creation, sharing, and collaborative use of geospatial information.

Responsibilities

• Partner with GeoNode product leads, designers and engineers to develop reliable and well tested backend and frontend software.
• Deploy regular code releases to production and test environments.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers.
• Create and maintain frontend and backend applications and systems.

Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering. Proven experience with designing complex solutions.
• Working knowledge of Python and the Django framework.
• Experience with developing GIS is a must.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Knowledge of HTML5 / CSS3 and the Javascript language.
• Familiarity with React ecosystem.
• Previous experience with GeoNode is a plus; experience in building geospatial systems is desirable.

We offer a variety of contracts but, please, notice that our intention is to establish a long term relationship. Working remotely is an option we envisage, although we will give priority to candidate closer to our office. The ideal candidate should work from a timezone between GMT-1 and GMT+3.

Relocation is not requested and as such we are not envisioning any relocation support package.

Notice that the selection process will include an exercise to test your skills using the Django framework.
